Jerry Brannigan

Jerry began his working life as a heating engineer; when he retired from the heating world he was a part-time engineer, full-time writer.

His first project as a writer was at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2001, when he wrote, directed and produced a dramatic comedy. Since then he's written and produced a further two plays. In film he then produced a short documentary and a short drama before turning to the printed word when he co-authored Robert Burns in Edinburgh, published by Waverley Books. in 2014, Jerry delivered the Burns Scotland Lecture at the Mitchell Theatre for the Centre for Robert Burns Studies annual conference.

Jerry has spoken at many places and events including the Edinburgh International Book Festival, Glasgow's Aye Write Book Festival, The Mitchell Library, The Dick Institute in Kilmarnock, the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum and the National Library of Scotland.

With the publication of 12 Remarkable Scots, published by Passenger Productions, with Jerry as sole author, he has added Kirkintilloch's William Patrick Library, The McManus: Dundee's Art Gallery and Museum, and Dundee's Central Library to this list.

Jerry established Scottish Screenwriters with John McShane, and has also been involved in projects with the Princes Trust and Media Trust.

With the publication of 12 Remarkable Scots, Jerry continues to be in demand to advise or speak not only on many aspects of Robert Burns' life in general, but also on the lives of any of his 12 Remarkable Scots.
