Jenny Hall

Jenny is a researcher, writer, teacher and editor. Her research investigates cultural and sensory approaches to Japanese textile design, and in particular how contemporary Kyoto designers are using traditional methods and design elements to create new fashions. Jenny received her PhD from Monash University in 2016. She holds a BA Honours in Archaeology and Anthropology from Cambridge University. She lived in Japan for eight years where she taught at Osaka Prefecture University, Kyoto University and Kyoto University for Foreign Studies. She has also interested in travelling, photography, woodblock printing, Japanese calligraphy, ikebana, and Japanese popular culture.
