In 2009 I helped my father, Kenneth Tucker, publish his memoir. We had a great run for about four years, selling 5,000 copies. My dad so enjoyed the book signings and guest speaking engagement, but what he enjoyed the most, was visiting local middle and high schools and sharing his story with the students. He has 44 reviews on Amazon from the past publication, many from students. With the recent popularity of "Masters of the Air" on Apple TV my son and I thought this would be an opportune time to re-release my dad's book. This time around, I want to focus on marketing to young adults. Though my dad's story has been enjoyed by multi generations, it seems to be most popular with the younger folks. It truly is a "coming of age" story. Young people can enjoy a great story and at the same time learn about a pivotal time in our history. I have no interest in writing other books. My only interest right now is getting my dad's story back out there. He would be so excited. I'm 75 years old and not tech savvy at all. This is going to be a stressful and lonely journey for me but I'm on board. Everyday I'm faced with just how much I don't know about marketing and how I lack technology skills. Quite frankly, the scope and enormity of Amazon scares me. One of the many lessons I learned from my dad's story is to face my fears with the idea that backing out is not an option. Obviously, I'm not climbing into the tail of a B-17 to face German fighters and flak. It's just marketing on Amazon KDP. All I have to face is the fear of the unknown and knowing full well that I don't have a clue what I'm doing. Backing out is not an option.
