Born Deborah Young, Debby grew up in South Yorkshire, England, the eldest daughter of two. At 16, she started sixth form, but hated the courses her parents had persuaded her to take. First life lesson: no matter how much people love you and try to help and guide you, go with your gut instinct.
Debby left and fell into a job in the insurance department of British Coal, and several years of work and study later, became a Claims Manager for a Lloyds Syndicate, specialising in injury and disease claims. But then she found her way into loss adjusting; the sharp end of the job, out on the road, visiting the accident scene and meeting people from every walk of life.
After losing her parents close together, as a means of distraction, Debby retired in 2018 to go travelling with her husband, Andrew. When COVID put a stop to that, she began her first attempt at creative writing. Her hobbies of cycling, walking and travelling have led her to fascinating places and people the world over, and she would love to share their stories with you.
