Patrick Wallis is a British historian who writes about the economic, social and medical history of Britain and Europe between 1500 and the present. He studied at York and Oxford. Since 2004, he has been a member of the Department of Economic History at the London School of Economics and is now Professor of Economic History. He is interested in understanding the way in which people gain skills, particularly through apprenticeship. He has published books and articles on guilds, craft, plague, medicine, wages and other structural change.
