I began my writing journey banging on a Royal portable typewriter in my basement at night, so I wouldn't disturb my parents. The great thing about writing is you never really know how good or how bad your writing is. Completing the sentence, paragraph, page, or chapter was its own reward, encouraging me to keep going. I believe failure and rejection are motivators for me. Of course, having someone I care about love my story makes all the difference in the world. I had that for most of my life, but lost it when my wife passed away. I was mired in grief, but I had promised her I would keep writing. Now, without her feedback, I depend on professional help and my readers to keep my on track. I'm still fighting back tears, but now I get to cry and laugh along with my characters.
