Bio:
Born and raised in the Crieve Hall area of Nashville, I graduated from Franklin High School, back when Franklin was just a sleepy little town. I have made my living in the construction industry and am sole proprietor of The Building Company, which has been operating and in existence since 1988.
After studying anthropology and literature at Middle Tennessee State University, The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Nashville State University, and Ole Miss (under the John Grisham Chair), I have had short works published by Fine Lines and Turning Points, and after submitting a rough, first-draft sample chapter as a stand-alone short story from my first novel, Those We Leave Behind to the Tennessee Writers Alliance, was named a finalist and was asked to read at their annual conference in Nashville. Chapter Two of the unpolished draft also received First Honorable mention in the Florida State Writing Competition – Novel Chapter.
I am currently living in a glorious little spring hollow near the Buffalo River in Lewis County Tennessee, with my wife Catherine, our dogs Gem and Tag, our cat Jinx, and am an avid Blues fan. I have always enjoyed writing. It, along with playing golf, have always been my favorite ‘luxury’ hobbies, and now I have time to seriously pursue my goal of breaking par in both areas.
B.B. King said it best for me: “I live the life I love and love the life I live.” Amen, brother Riley, Amen.
