Larry Pearson

I began reading a very long time ago and started writing short stories and nonfiction shortly after that. My first recognition came in the form of an honorable mention certificate from Boy's Life magazine when I was in the third grade. I edited and published my first newspaper, The Blare, when I was in the seventh grade.

Since then I've lived in places as far apart as Anchorage, Alaska, and Rome, Italy. I worked as an editor for newspapers in both those cities as well as in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. Then I traded one career for another. I went back to college, received advanced degrees and began a teaching career that included universities in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Alaska.

I'm a bookworm, though not the destructive kind. Curiosity has kept me going in both my professional careers and personal life. Curiosity led me to travel extensively and frequently, to learn how to fly, and to try – and try again – to master several other languages. After years and years of study the French can almost understand my French.

"Balin and the Hollow Knight" is my first cozy fantasy novel. "Companions of the Hollow Knight" and "Mimsey and the Moon Child" continue the Balin's World series. I have just completed a prequel in which Balin appears as a somewhat younger wizard. It's "Wizardry in the Woods." A fifth Balin's World novel is in progress and should be available in late 2026.
