Karin Surber (formerly writing as KD Carr) is an author, global strategy leader, and lifelong explorer who believes that meaningful connections, personal growth, and a sense of purpose are essential to a life well lived.

With nearly four decades of experience in business strategy, leadership, and innovation, Karin has built a career around bringing people and ideas together. Her work has taken her around the world, where she's led complex global initiatives, mentored emerging leaders, and discovered that some of life's most valuable lessons come from the relationships we build along the way.

But Karin's curiosity extends well beyond the corporate world.

An avid traveler who has explored more than 35 countries, she's equally comfortable navigating a boardroom, planning a large event, or volunteering at a wildlife conservation project in Africa. She believes that growth doesn't have an expiration date and that some of life's most rewarding chapters begin when we're willing to step outside our comfort zones.

As an author, Karin explores the experiences that connect us as human beings: friendship, loneliness, love, caregiving, resilience, and the search for meaning. Her books include The Loneliness Paradox, which examines why we can feel so disconnected in an increasingly connected world; Things to Do in Retirement That Unleash Play, Passion, and Purpose, an invitation to approach life's next chapter with curiosity and intention; and The Beginner's Guide to African Safaris, inspired by her love of travel and wildlife.

Her upcoming book, What I Wish I Had Known, is her most personal work yet. Drawing from her experience caring for her mother through dementia and congestive heart failure, Karin shares the emotional realities of caregiving alongside practical lessons and resources she wishes she'd had when her own journey began.

Through her publishing company, i3 Publishing, her writing, and her monthly blog, The Connected Journey, Karin encourages readers to nurture meaningful relationships, stay curious, and find ways to make a difference in others' lives.

Karin lives in Maumee, Ohio, where she enjoys spending time with her partner John, family, and friends; reading, writing, traveling, volunteering, and planning her next adventure. She's a mother of two daughters and a proud grandmother who believes that life's greatest rewards are often found in the moments we share with the people we love.
