Lukas Winkelmann

Lukas Winkelmann is a high school student whose passion for science and nature started in middle school amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the world being at a time of great separation, Lukas found hope in the influx of space missions and new voyages to the International Space Station. As space agencies and companies revealed new future technologies with the hope of transporting people to the moon and beyond, Lukas became a passionate supporter of astronomy and the exploration of the local galactic neighborhood. During this period, he spent much of his time watching documentaries on space travel and science, learning astrophotography, and developing his first understanding of physics and the universe. As schools began to reopen and the pandemic started to fade, Lukas founded clubs at his school to explore reaching beyond the atmosphere above and building other STEM technologies.
