Bob Vogel

I have recently retired from full-time University teaching after 43 years at LaSalle University and serve as Professor Emeritus of Education. I am the Founding Director of Writers Matter in Philadelphia and in Israel. I received my doctorate from Temple University in Educational Psychology and Organization Development.

In 2005, I created Writer’s Matter, which helps young students learn writing skills through personal journaling. Writers Matter currently serves over 3000 students yearly in 18 Philadelphia schools and many high school students in Israel.

I live in Philadelphia with my wife and spend my free time traveling the world, spending summers at the Jersey shore and of course, writing. I have two sons and three granddaughters.

I have co-authored “Methods of Teaching: Applying Cognitive Science to Promote Student Learning, Voices of Teens: Writers Matter and Empowering Young Writers: The Writers Matter Approach.

Recently I wrote Wondering: Feelings, Emotions and Building Resilience.

In July 2024, I co-wrote a book with my eight-year-old granddaughter Standing Tall, Standing Strong a book about standing up for yourself.

In august of 2024, a book co-written with Steven Aiello will be published. The Write Path - Israeli and Palestinian Youth Finding Commonalities and Mutual Understanding Through Writing is a unique window into the changing lives of students after the war broke out on October 7, 2023, in Israel.
