Sandy Selby

In 2024, Sandy Selby stepped away from her career as a magazine editor to pursue her passion as a historian. She founded her company, History Speaks! LLC, to create local history programs and publications that fascinate and inform. She hopes to replicate the Arrow Rock Ink format for other towns and organizations and to help history-focused groups navigate the publication process. In addition, she creates tours and educational programs for clients who want to share the stories of their historic properties. Sandy’s own Arrow Rock Ghost Tours, which she operates with her husband, Marty, are wildly popular, appropriately spooky, and stealthily educational.

She has collected many awards during her tenure as a journalist, including the 2023 Great Plains Journalism Award for best magazine feature story. She is especially proud of her contribution as editor for the internationally acclaimed book Historic Style, showcasing the work of interior designer Kelee Katillac. That book was named coffee table book of the year by the Independent Publishers Book Awards. Sandy has written two previous books about Arrow Rock: Images of America: Arrow Rock, and Friends of Arrow Rock: The First 55 Years.
