Sandra Macek

Sandra Macek is the author of the young adult sci-fi series the Scorched Earth, which includes the novels, Kindling, Flare, Magma and Firestorm. After completing a degree in rhetoric, she dreamed of becoming an American novelist; instead she got a job so she could eat. Now she’s an IT professional by day and a writer by night—surviving suburbia on a continuous diet of girl-power fiction.

She's a member of SCBWI and Chicago Writers Association. She facilitates a critique group through her local library and enjoys several book clubs.

Given the chance to be anyone else, she’d be Buffy, Bella or any woman in Paris.
