Pat Duncan

Pat Duncan was born in 1960 and became an avid baseball and football fan in 1968, following the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. Soon after he also rooted for the Milwaukee Bucks and Minnesota North Stars, and now the Minnesota Timberwolves and Wild.

He was a journalist starting in 1983 after graduating from Sioux Falls Washington High School and South Dakota State University. He was a reporter in Marshall, Minn., and Sioux Falls, S.D., and an editor into 2015. Major events he covered included a 1987 college football game, No. 2 Oklahoma at No. 1 Nebraska, the 1990 U.S. Junior Olympics in Minneapolis and St. Paul for Gannett, the 1991 American League playoffs and World Series. He finished his newspaper career from 2015 to 2021 at the Cedar Rapids Gazette in Iowa.

He wrote "Last Kings of the Old NFL" about the 1969 Minnesota Vikings and pro football before the AFL and NFL merged. "Last Kings" was published in 2014.

His most recent book is "Swings of Change" about baseball in the 1970s through the profiles and stories of 13 players from that era.

Pat lives in Sioux Falls and enjoys daily hikes, bike rides, travel, reading and movies.
