Lori E Tankel

Lori was first introduced to horses by her grandparents as a toddler, on their farm outside of Pittsburgh, Pa., and she has made sure that horses have been a part of her life ever since. Her equine experience spans 5 decades, as a stable manager, vet tech, competitor in eventing, jumpers, hunters and dressage. She has been an instructor, trainer, equine product sales rep, and she co-founded an equine rescue. When her daughters joined the United States Pony Club, she became involved as a District Commissioner and became passionate about the horse management portion, often volunteering at rallies as a Horse Management judge. She has written articles for magazines and speaks on horse management, fire prevention in barns and disaster planning. She began blogging her Common Sense Horse Keeping blog in 2004. Today, Lori lives in DeLeon Springs, Florida, at her Calypso Ridge farm, with her husband, and an assortment of animals, including her Thoroughbred.
