Shri. Manoj Chandran IFS is a member of the Indian Forest Service borne to Uttarakhand Cadre. He was born in 1976 and brought up in Kerala and did his graduation in Agriculture. After being selected to the Indian Forest Service and allotted to the Himalayan State of Uttarakhand, he persued his interests in forestry, ecology, wildlife and trekked all over the Himalayas including a 70 day long trek across the trans-Himalayas. He is also a grass taxonomist and has above one lakh specimen of grass in his personal herbarium collection. He has also worked as additional secretary to the Govt. of Uttarakhand in the Forest as well as social welfare department and also held the charge of Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities. During his tenure he successfully reunited 80 destitute women, 10 persons recovered from mental illness and more than 400 missing children including trafficking victims back to their families across India, Nepal, Bangladesh and Myanmar. His story of interaction with God during his posting in Pithoragarh and during other times in life is well known. Presently he is working as a Chief Conservator of Forests in Uttarakhand Forest Department.
