About Merilla.A.Borlace. Author of ‘The Embers’ series.

Merilla grew up in Cornwall with parents who loved nature, and encouraged creativity. As a child she read far too much C.S. Lewis and Roger Lancelyn Green, progressing to Tolkien and Louis de Berniéres. Seduced by Greece, she caught a magic bus to Athens, with the intention of working on an island for the summer. She quite forgot to go back to England.

In Greece, Merilla worked as an English teacher, a draughtsman, and in yacht charter. She lives on Mount Pelion with her family, and a lot of furred and feathered farmyard friends. When she isn’t writing, she’s harvesting olives for oil, making honey, or swimming in the Aegean Sea.
