Stephen Langford

Dr Stephen Langford, served as a doctor with the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Western Australia for 35 years. A former WA Australian of the Year - Local Hero, Dr Langford is a life-long advocate for remote medicine.

As an RFDS doctor and medical director, he expanded the service across Western Australia, an area covering of one-third of the Australian continent. Continually implementing systems, new innovative technology and treatments, designing aircraft medical interiors; all of which have contributed to countless lives being saved across the State.

Instrumental in securing the first RFDS jet aircraft in Australia, and through Board, College and University roles initiating training and research in aeromedical care. Recently awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for his contribution to medicine, rural health and medical education.
