Isbel M. Álvarez Temes, Havana, 1962
Poet and Writer, born in Guanabacoa, Havana, Cuba
Lives in Capri, Italy
From the age of thirteen, I began to take my first steps in the literary workshops of the House of Culture in my hometown, Guanabacoa.
I am the mother of a daughter who has followed in my footsteps with writing since she was very little, in addition to being an excellent Fine Artist and Photographer.
I live with an excellent friend, partner and husband with whom I have been married for thirty-five happy years despite all the difficult and painful moments we went through in our country, due to the dictatorship that has oppressed my people for more than six decades. .
Throughout my career as a writer I have received awards and recognition both nationally and internationally in the genres of poetry and short stories.
In 1999, I was awarded first place in the Poetry Contest sponsored by Editorial Claret in Spain. As a result of this achievement, my Book of Poems titled “Cuaderno de Poems Cubanos” was published, which reflects my passion for writing since my early age. In 2003, my story “Diary of an unknown woman” was awarded in Rosario, Argentina and published in an Anthology along with other prestigious narrators. In 2004, I participated in the Abdala Contest of the Arab Union of Cuba where I obtained first place with my poems. As a result of this recognition, my work was published in the Book of Poems “Woman Camello on the Shoulder” by the “Extramuros” Publishing House in Havana, Cuba.
Currently, and thanks to the Universe, I reside on the beautiful island of Capri, opposite the city of Naples, in Italy and I remain dedicated to writing poems, novels and stories.
