My journey began in Lagos, Nigeria, where I was born into a middle-class family. I received my education at a private primary school and a state-owned secondary school. After a rigorous three-and-a-half-year program at Lagos University Teaching Hospital, I became a state registered nurse. My career took me to England, where I studied Midwifery and earned several other nursing qualifications, culminating in a BSC in nursing. My last role with the National Health Service was as a Specialist Nurse Assessor (Continuing Care). Upon retiring, I was determined not to let my mind stagnate. This determination led me to the path of writing.
I love reading novels that catch my eye. I have always wanted to write. What inspired me more to write my first novel was when I became a grandmother and had to read books to my grandson. His display of concentration and chuckle at reading time was the final straw and the beginning of the journey to 'Destiny'. If he can enjoy what others write, why can't I write for him to read? My novel is pure African fiction that will take any African or African-Caribbean reader back to their roots. A lover of African tales, young and old, will also marvel at 'Destiny'. My grandchildren are now revelling in Destiny.
I am excited to share that I am currently in the process of writing my second novel. It's a project that I'm deeply passionate about, and I can't wait to share more details with you soon. Stay tuned for updates on this new journey!
As of today, September 15th 2024, I am happy to reveal to everyone that my first novel, Destiny, was published by Austin Macauley Publishers on the 13th of this month. It was a relief of joy after several years of preparation, writing, and searching for a publisher; the time has finally arrived for me to relax, sit back a little and admire my hard work. As I said earlier that Destiny is a fictional African tale; it is written to be enjoyed by all lovers of African tale. Lessons to take away after reading Destiny are, increased spirituality, the benefit of endurance and patience and the fact that young adults of African and African Caribbean origin to whom I focused the novel will come to realise that they have roots. I am sure that Destiny will make you look forward to my next novel..
After four months that Destiny was published, I say thank you to everyone that bought my novel. For those who haven't, I hope that they are not missing the courage and bravery of the hero, Fabunmi. The reward for being fearless is always great and being loved by your people for saving them from the curse of false god is also great. That was Fabunmi.
I am now reeling in the hope that Destiny will make a good sale. Nonetheless, it does not stop me from venturing into the next novel where I hope to make the impossibility possible. See you then.
