Peter Marshall worked in the Halton District School Board for 33 years. A graduate of the University of Toronto in Physical and Health Education, he received his teaching degree at the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education. He has his Masters’ degree in Education from Brock University in Curriculum Studies.
His journey in education has taken him from classroom teacher in grade 3 to grade 8, with specialty roles like guidance, student success and physical education. He began his administrative career in 2001. He was an administrator at five different schools in the Halton District School Board. One of his roles was as the System Principal responsible for Leadership and Staff Development. He worked with both the corporate and academic sides of the School Board in order to onboard new staff, train and develop new leaders, consult with departments and schools as well as provide mentoring and coaching for new administrators. He also worked for many years with the Ontario Principals’ Council in their administrator qualification courses.
Peter is now working as a consultant and speaker, working with different Boards of Education. He is a sought after speaker utilizing his own stories and experience as well as doing work with Lumina Learning, Crucial Learning, and Solution Tree. He is the Education Specialist for Lumina Learning. He is an Associate with Solution Tree as a conference speaker and presenter across the United States and Canada.
He retired as Principal of Boyne Public School which he opened and is one of Halton’s newest schools. For seven years he supported the staff, students and community to grow a school from the middle of an empty field into a school that is recognized for its innovation, commitment to student achievement and well being, and provide a community hub for what is considered the fastest growing area in Canada; Milton Ontario. His hard work and dedication was rewarded as his community and school staff nominated Peter and he was recognized as one of Canada’s Outstanding Principals in 2018.
