Eric Donoho is an author, speaker, retired U.S. Army Sergeant, and Purple Heart recipient whose life has been shaped by war, grief, loss, faith, and the long road of learning how to move forward when life doesn’t go according to plan.
After serving in Iraq and surviving multiple combat injuries, Eric returned home carrying wounds that weren’t always visible. In the years that followed, he faced the loss of his son, family miscarriages, his wife’s battle with cancer, his own health challenges, and a personal struggle that ultimately forced him to confront what it means to survive and still build a meaningful life.
Those experiences became the foundation for Canyon of Hope: From Darkness to Dawn; Embracing the Light Within. Rather than offering easy answers, Eric writes about the practices that helped him rebuild: faith, gratitude, service, and purpose.
Today, Eric uses his story to help others understand that moving forward doesn’t require forgetting what happened or pretending everything is okay. His work centers on resilience, moral injury, post-traumatic growth, and the belief that even after life changes in ways we never expected, there can still be purpose in what comes next.
