Samantha Maxwell is a Wrexham-based author, disability advocate and social media and website developer whose writing is rooted in lived experience, inclusion and the people and places of North Wales.
Samantha is the author of CP Isn’t Me, an honest and personal exploration of living with mild Cerebral Palsy, disability and discrimination; Disabling Ableism, which examines the barriers and attitudes faced by disabled people; and SILENCED., a powerful exploration of disability, mental health and finding the courage to speak openly about experiences that are often left unheard.
Her work is inspired by a desire to challenge misconceptions, raise awareness and encourage greater understanding of disability and mental health. Samantha is passionate about the principle of “Nothing About Us Without Us” and believes disabled people should have a meaningful voice in the conversations and decisions that affect them.
Samantha is also Project Lead for Accessible Wrexham, an initiative working towards a more accessible and inclusive Wrexham for residents and visitors. She is an official Ambassador for the Wrecsam2029 City of Culture Bid.
Her upcoming work includes 35 Tŷ Bach, a short ghost story novella inspired by true events in Wrexham, as well as a children's book focusing on disability awareness and inclusion.
Through her books, talks and advocacy, Samantha hopes to start conversations, challenge stereotypes and remind readers that disability is only one part of a person's story.
