James C. Foster is a seasoned CEO who has driven multiple company exits and delivered tremendous growth at scale as both a private and public company leader. He leads organizations through passion, data-driven decision making, and keeping a keen focus on becoming the customers’ trusted advisor.
As a naturally charismatic leader, he has delivered both pressure-packed briefings to Congress on TikTok and crypto and made thousands roar during his cyber-themed standup comedy in Las Vegas. Foster served as a keynote at Intel’s Focus, spoke at the largest security conferences including RSA, Black Hat, and Microsoft and has been a recurring subject matter expert on Squawk Box, MSNBC, and Bloomberg.
Foster is the founder of ZeroFox, a recognized leader in external cybersecurity. He served as Chairman and CEO from January 2013 to May 2024, and now serves on the board of directors. Foster's leadership has been recognized through numerous accolades, including being named the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year® Mid-Atlantic winner in 2020, CEO of the Year by The Daily Record, and recognition by the Baltimore Sun and SmartCEO. His contributions to cybersecurity are extensive where he has published more than nine books, contributed to several mainstream open source projects, and holds over a dozen patents.
Early in his career, Foster demonstrated his entrepreneurial acumen as the CEO of Ciphent, where he grew the company to more than 1000 clients; including 43 of the Fortune 100, and achieved recognition as the fastest growing cybersecurity organization in the United States by Inc. Magazine from 2006 to 2010.
Outside of his professional achievements, Foster is an avid reader, a passionate supporter of Team USA Greco-Roman wrestling, and enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and four children.
