#DesignDevelopDeliver
Hi there! I’m Dr. Amanda Rosenzweig. I’ve been teaching at Delgado Community College (DCC) since 2003, where I’ve enjoyed working with exceptional students and colleagues. I earned my Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from the University of New Orleans in 2012. I also hold a M.S. in biology from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and a B.A. in biology from William Woods University.
I’m the Assistant Dean of the School of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) at DCC, and I’m excited to be directing the science teacher technology training (ST3) program. As director of ST3, I develop STEM resources, lead workshops, and STEAM Fests, and help conduct professional development workshops for educators in grades K-12. I’m also the Canvas Learning Management System administrator at DCC, and I have completed the Canvas Certified Technical Administrator program, which has allowed me to support our digital learning environment effectively.
I created and lead a series called Teach and Learn/eProfessor, which focuses on course development and instructional design. I’ve had the opportunity to work on grants for course design and delivery, including HyFlex models.
I’m passionate about digital accessibility and have earned an Accessibility Badge from OLC, along with various certifications from Utah State University, Microsoft, and CAST. I recently completed a Master’s Certificate in Accessibility Studies from Central Washington University, where I now teach in the program.
In addition to my teaching and administrative roles, I’m involved with several advisory boards for NSF grants and am a CAST Workforce and Postsecondary National Faculty Member. I’m also a co-Principle Investigator on a Board of Regents Enhancement grant and a NSF Bioindustrial Manufacturer grant.
I’m honored to have received the Seymour Weiss Excellence in Teaching Award, which reflects my commitment to student success and progressive change. I’m thrilled to continue contributing to the field and supporting our educational community!
Enough about my academic side—let’s dive into the fun stuff! I’m definitely the “crazy dog” lady! My heart is full of love for my furry family. I’ve got Zim, my charming yohuahua (yorkie/chihuahua mix), and Z and Zax, two playful Dobermans. I recently said goodbye to Squeaks, a sweet chihuahua, and Phareaux, a miniature pinscher, both have crossed the rainbow bridge.
I’m always on the move and love staying active. Whether it’s hiking, kayaking, riding horses, or playing sports, you’ll probably find me outdoors and having a great time. I also enjoy painting whenever I get the chance. Giving back is really important to me, so I’m involved in a variety of charitable activities, from cancer walks to pet adoptions. It’s all about spreading a little joy and making a difference!
