Sally Evans

“I hope my story and the practical guidance in this book inspire other women to embrace their own midlife transformation with confidence and passion."

Sally Evans is a fantastic example of how to embrace midlife change. After a corporate career based in Paris and the South of France while raising two sons, once they were preparing to flow the nest, her thoughts turned to what next? In her early fifties, she yearned for a major change and a new chapter. Nurturing those thoughts, she tapped into the themes of her life, identified her move and plotted a path to make it a reality.

So after diving into wine studies at 52, Sally was fuelled by passion and, by her own admission, some naivety, as she bought a parcel of mature vines and some rundown buildings and created Château George 7. (Château George Sept). She bottled her first wine aged 58 and today, nestled on the right bank of Bordeaux, in the hills above the Dordogne River, her boutique winery produces award-winning wines praised by critics and served in top venues, including Michelin-starred restaurants across Europe and the US. She followed wine production with the creation of a superb wine tourism venue two years later.

Now, with the release of her new book, Make the Midlife Move: A Practical Guide to Flourish after Fifty, Sally delivers practical advice for anyone, but particularly women, looking to make a significant move in midlife. Her book helps the reader through the stages of imagining what that life change could be through putting it into practice to gauging its success. It is packed with insights and practical prompts to help other women navigate their own midlife transformation whatever that may be.

Originally from Britain, Sally has spent half her life in France, but also has a rich background that includes living in Spain post university and running a country inn in the Cotswolds. She has embarked on an adventure that many dream of but few dare to pursue. Her journey from enjoying wine to making it is a testament to thinking outside the box and seizing opportunities.
