Simhadri Govindappa holds a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology in Bangalore, India. As an accomplished professional, he has made significant contributions to the field of big data and distributed systems.
Simhadri began his career at GE Healthcare, where he worked on the AI Data Platform team, developing AI models and deep learning annotation tools. His innovative work earned him a patent granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (Patent No: US11069036B1).
He later joined Cloudera, a leader in big data technology, as part of the Apache Hive R&D team. His primary focus includes distributed systems, Apache Iceberg, Apache Hive, Hive-ACID-Spark Connectivity (HWC), and enhancing Hive Acid functionality. His notable contributions to the Apache Hive open-source community earned him Apache Hive Committership.
Simhadri has also presented his work on Hive-Iceberg integration at the Apache Conference: Community Over Code in Bratislava, Slovakia. Currently, he serves as a Senior Software Engineer in Cloudera’s Enterprise DataWarehouse R&D team, where he continues to solve complex challenges and advance cutting-edge technologies in big data.
In addition to his professional work, Simhadri has participated in and won several hackathons, including the Smart India Hackathon 2019, and has presented papers at IEEE conferences on various technical topics. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling and reading, indulging his curiosity for both technology and the world around him.
