Gail Bergan

Gail Bergan was born in North Dakota into a large Polish family. She was the youngest of seven children and learned self-sufficiency at an early age. After graduating from the University of North Dakota with a BS degree in geology, she moved to Dallas, Texas, at age 21 to begin working in the oil industry. She earned her MS degree in geology at the University of Texas at Arlington, in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. Gail worked in the oil industry as a geoscientist for 10 years before resigning to start her own business as a technical/science editor and desktop publisher. She remained self-employed for the next 30+ years, living in Houston and Rockport, Texas. In the summer of 2023, she semiretired and moved to Washington state to be closer to family.

In 2021, Gail started the blog "Gail’s Story," where she enjoys posting creative nonfiction essays and book reviews. In 2024, one of these essays was chosen to be included in the "Journey Into Time" anthology, published by the Houston Writers Guild.

Gail loves original artwork and had her own art gallery at one time; the tale of this gallery is chronicled in the 2025 memoir "Art and Artifice." Although the gallery no longer exists, her walls are still awash with color.
