D.W. Layton

Inspired by James Michener's The Drifters, D.W. Layton set off after college to see the world firsthand. Along the way he ran with the bulls in Pamplona, stomped grapes in Greece, and hauled giant crab pots from the floor of the Bering Sea.

After earning his law degree, he completed an advanced degree in international law at Cambridge University before spending more than 35 years working in and out of government. His career took him around the world, often representing governments in disputes before the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland.

Layton's experiences in international law, diplomacy, and government, along with his time appearing in two operas at Washington's Kennedy Center, inspired him to write political thrillers grounded in real places, real institutions, and real geopolitical conflicts.

He and his wife divide their time between Florida and the South of France.
