Buck Ryan is an author, yes, but also an inventor. He created the Maestro Concept for storytelling in a video and report for the American Society of Newspaper Editors, though surprisingly the concept was adopted by high school and college journalists and by newsrooms across the globe, from Sweden to Russia. He also is the creator of the Citizen Kentucky Project, beginning with an award-winning documentary for public television. He has been executive producer for five documentaries. That broadcasting experience, plus his travels internationally, his work in newspaper newsrooms as an editor and consultant, and his teaching at universities in the U.S. and abroad gave him special insights to write this book on editing. It is part memoir as he draws on anecdotes from his days at the Buffalo (N.Y.) Evening News and the Chicago Tribune to teach valuable lessons for beginners and professionals. Enjoy the humor, even with his lessons on grammar, style and spelling. It’s a fun and educational read.
