Felicia Pride

Felicia Pride started her writing career almost twenty-five years ago as a journalist before going on to write several books, including the essay collection, The Message: 100 Life Lessons from Hip-Hop’s Greatest Songs.

Then she stopped writing. During the dark years as she likes to call them, she ran her own marketing consultancy, served as an impact producer, helping large-scale social justice projects reach audiences and effect change, and became a film distribution executive.

At thirty-five years old, she moved to Los Angeles with one screenplay, a dream, and a determination to get back to her artistic self. That script became REALLY LOVE, which debuted on Netflix and became a Top Ten Movie on the platform. She went on to become a TV writer / producer and an award-winning filmmaker. Her television writing credits include GREY'S ANATOMY, BEL-AIR and QUEEN SUGAR. She’s developed television shows with Amazon, Netflix, and FX. And she’s sold feature films to Universal, Sony, and AGC Studios. She wrote and directed the short films tender, which aired on STARZ, and LOOK BACK AT IT, both of them award-winning. She’s gearing up to direct her first feature.

She founded and runs HONEY CHILE, an independent, boutique media + production company that tells stories by, for, or about Black women 40+... or Honeys, as they call them. HONEY CHILE celebrates and encourages Honeys to live authentic and abundant lives. And they do this by creating indie, branded, and studio-level content across TV, film, digital, audio, and events. Felicia is also the host of their podcast IT'S GOOD OVER HERE and the co-host of their NAACP-nominated podcast Chile, Please.

Felicia Pride has helped thousands of writers and other storytellers thrive creatively, especially those who are marginalized, through her former platform The Create Daily. These days, she continues to support historically excluded storytellers through her production company HONEY CHILE and its educational arm, The Sweet Build.
