Alan J Powderham

Alan J Powderham has been a scuba diver and underwater photographer for over 40 years having his first book, Venezuela Submarina, on the marine life of the southern Caribbean published in 1983. By profession he is an engineering consultant specialising in sustainable solutions and environmental engineering, promoting green and low carbon technology. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and has published extensively. Two of his most recent books are ‘The Observational Method in Civil Engineering – minimising risk, maximising economy’, with Tony O’Brien, CRC Press (2020), and ‘Coral Triangle Cameos – biodiversity and the small majority’, with Sancia ET van der Meij, Dived Up Publications (2024).
