Sarah Walters is a woman who’s taken a few unnecessary detours in her journey to find Jesus in the everyday. He has been more than gracious, as He’s known to be. Those detours have left a few scars, but none as deep or as telling as the ones in His hands, feet and side – so Sarah strives to use the scars of her life to tell stories with empathy, compassion and grace and to weave His story into all her tales.
One of Sarah’s greatest joys is to dive headlong into the lives of Biblical characters for a better understanding of the choices they made, the lessons they teach and how she and others can apply those lessons in everyday life. These are real people who made real mistakes and achieved real victories in real points of history – this fascinates her. But no simple flight of fancy will satisfy that kind of curiosity. She believes the answers are all right there for us in God’s Word, if we are just curious enough to dig them out like the precious jewels they are. She’s also committed to understanding the historic setting these folks wandered and brings the reader along on that journey.
But she’s no stuffy history buff, not a grouchy Bible thumper (not that such people exist, ahem) – all of Sarah’s works include a healthy dose of wit. Sarah’s mother once scolded her, “not everything’s funny!” After she stopped laughing, Sarah might well have responded – as respectfully as possible, “no, but an awful lot of things are; God has a sense of humor, we should, too.”
Sarah lives in Kentucky with an old-man puppy and a feline twinado. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, is active in her church (she works in the nursery – further proof of God’s sense of humor) and volunteers for an organization that helps victims of sex-trafficking heal.
