Michael L Huff

Inspired as a teen reader of Western novels, Michael set out to emulate the life of Louis L'Amour, whose bio read somewhat like a travel adventure. Michael started life on an Air Force Base outside Washington, DC, fled to Texas as a child, then ran away from home as a teen, then joined the US Navy. After being booted out of the Navy for too many unauthorized vacations, he went to Sam Houston State University on the 14-year plan. In the intervening years (starting school at 20 and graduation at age 24, he held many jobs: manager-trainee at a jewelry store, assistant manager at a restaurant, manager/owner of a carpet cleaning company and finally front-end manger at a grocery store. He also squeezed in time to work at a low-power TV station, first as a cameraman/producer, then as manager, and as a writer for a publishing company making magazines for Chambers of Commerce. With his freshly minted degree, he became a teacher, a thing he did off and on (mostly on0 for 21 years. Mixed in there, he started and pastored a church. Finally, upon retirement, he has become a real estate agent.

So, what about writing? Michael has always written, since he scribbled out stories with a thick pencil on a Big Chief tablet on the kitchen table, all the way through public school, and college. He took every writing enhanced class he could sign up for, and more than one writing class, including script writing, advanced writing, and novel writing. He has notebooks and file folders full of the fodder of all the years of writing.

Now, as a man of advancing years (aren't we all advancing?) he started a writers group, the Piney Woods Writers Group, which exists to encourage writers to write and to publish, if that's what they want. So, with many pushes, shoves and words of encouragement, and the help of many friends, he has. Nevermore is the first. It will not be the last. Stay tuned for much, much more to come.
