Steve has served as president of the US division of Pioneers, a leading global mission organization, since 1999. Pioneers includes members from over 100 countries and its ministries currently impact well over 400 people groups worldwide. Steve was raised in Indonesia, where his parents took the gospel to a jungle tribe, a story made famous in his father’s missionary classic Peace Child and a film by the same name. Steve and his wife, Arlene, returned to Southeast Asia in 1986 to serve among a major Muslim unreached people group. With a team of 40 coworkers, they developed an innovative approach to church planting called Lampstand. The Richardsons helped start a center for evangelism, several media ministries, English language schools, an arts center, and a significant business enterprise. Steve and his wife Arlene also spent time advocating for Christian missions in Australia and New Zealand. A graduate of Columbia International University and Columbia Biblical Seminary, Steve is an author and regular conference speaker. The Richardsons have four daughters and a growing number of grandchildren.
