Kamal Khidas (PhD) grew up in a bucolic and learning environment that triggered and nurtured in him love and respect of nature. As university professor, he lectured for over two decades different courses in various institutions. He also ensures as Curator the care and development of natural history collections at the Canadian Museum of Nature. Kamal conducts research on taxonomy, biology, ecology and conservation of land mammals, recently specializing in large carnivores of Canada. He has also been chairing a Live Animal Care Committee, which requires a full set of ethical, scientific and technical considerations. For decades, he has been contributing his high science communication expertise to the education and awareness of a diversity of audiences through a variety of channels and languages. During his career, he has also been organizing numerous professional meetings, conferences, and specialized workshops. Moreover, he is now also interested in philosophical questions. He draws on his long, theoretical and practical experience in biology to take a nature-based philosophical look at questions relating to human nature and the fate of humankind.
