Avril Hertneky

Avril Hertneky (Arabic: أفريل هيرتينكي), born December 6, 1992, is a Deaf Assyrian woman. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, she was raised in Brampton, Ontario, and graduated from George Brown College in Toronto with a certificate in Makeup Artistry. In 2014, Avril represented Canada as a contestant in the Miss and Mister Deaf International pageant held in England. As a single mother of two beautiful children, Avril's experiences have driven her to advocate for reform within the government to protect Deaf children from facing similar struggles. Her passion project, 'From Rejection to Love,' was born in 2018, and she continues to fight for positive change.
