The Monster Within
by David R. Worrell
In spring of 1985, Dave Worrell, a police detective on Canada’s Sunshine Coast, received a call that would define his career: a young female provincial ward was missing, and the investigation would expose one of the most disturbing true‑crime cases in BC history.
The Monster Within is a close look at the Robert Noyes case written by the lead investigator himself, spanning from the first moments of the investigation through the arrests, court sessions, and aftermath. With care and precision, Dave recounts interviewing witnesses, gathering evidence, and watching small‑town communities struggle in the wake of Noyes’s arrest and confession to assaults on over sixty people.
This is true crime grounded in real investigative work — no sensationalism, just the facts, the process, and the human impact.

*Praise for The Monster Within*
“Dave Worrell’s extensive experience investigating crimes which made headlines in Canada make his non-fiction compelling. It’s rare to have a senior investigator write longform from a behind-the-scenes perspective. True crime fans won’t want to miss Worrell’s work.”
