James Verlon

James Verlon initially began his writing journey as a sort of ‘last-person-to-make-money-off-Amazon-is-a-rotten-egg’ sort of rat race among friends. His first novel project was a socio-political dystopian but has recently hit his stride writing humor fiction. James obtained his Master's in Public Policy, but perhaps his proudest accolade is winning ‘Funniest Film’ in his High School English class. His current project is about two ‘Wandbearers’, magic folk who live secretly among us surface dwellers. They often deal with narcissistic wizards who have one too many self-portraits, renegade wizards stirring up mischief, but their most formidable foe are the intrusive Homeowner's Association. James moved to Charlottesville from the Central Coast in California about six years ago and can be found playing tenor sax at local open mic nights or selling his booklets as a local vendor under the moniker ‘Nebula Writing’ at pop-up markets and occasional farmer’s markets.
