Rod Hill is a retired CSIRO (Australia) Chief Research Scientist and Group Executive for Mining, Mineral Processing, Manufacturing, Energy Technology and Industrial Physics. His main area of research was in the determination and refinement of crystal structures from X-ray and neutron powder diffraction data, as it relates to mineral processing and energy storage systems. He is a keen amateur astronomer and an experienced total solar eclipse chaser (13 to date), and has written two books and presented numerous talks and webinars on this subject. His most recent research paper was on gravity clearing of natural satellite orbits.
