Daniel L Bishop
About
He grew up in Bowie, Texas. He was the youngest of five boys. His first recollection was living on a dusty road in Sunset, Texas, where electricity and plumbing were only a dream for the family. By age seven, they had moved to Bowie, where he graduated from Bowie High School class of 1964.
In October 1965, during the expansion of the Vietnam War, he volunteered and joined the US Air Force, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. He was honorably discharged in 1969.
After serving as a finance technician in the Air Force, he entered the trucking industry and worked in accounting. He was quickly offered a sales position, leading to a remarkable thirty-five years in the logistics industry. During this time, he traveled extensively throughout the USA, Mexico, and Europe. In 1988, he traveled to the Soviet Union to negotiate a contract with the Soviet Government to handle their transportation needs in the USA, becoming the second transportation company to do so.
After leaving the Logistics industry in 2007, he and a partner formed a construction company, building warehouses and industrial parks. He retired from the industry at the end of 2021 at age seventy-five.
His hobbies have been classic cars, of which he has owned several, and working in his shop welding and creating metal art. In 1995, he earned his private pilot's license.
He is most grateful for the wonderful family he grew up in, with a father who could do and teach anything and a mother who had the love of Christ that she passed on to all her sons.
Today, he and his wife of thirty-seven years, Pat, enjoy traveling throughout Europe and spending time with their son, his wife, and granddaughter.
