A Next Generation Indie Book Award (2026) winner and IPPY gold medalist for Outstanding Book of the Year (2025), David Linebarger's first career was as a classical guitarist. After a hand injury forced him to leave music, he earned a Ph.D. in English at UC Davis before becoming a Professor of Humanities at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. His publications include scholarly essays, poetry collections, and his most recent book, Tennis Players as Works of Art, which features short writings on art and tennis as well as artwork from over 40 artists. His current projects include a collection of love letters to his daughters and a novel set in California.
