Tim Nicholson is a musician and writer. He is the author of a series of music appreciation textbooks and has contributed to various publications. His first children’s book with his wife Sandra, The Maker of the Mountain (B&H, April 2025), blends theological storytelling while recapturing the wonder of the outdoors for young readers.
Tim has worked for churches in Maryland, South Carolina, Tennessee, and New York City. He currently serves on staff at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City. In 2025 he served as an artist-in-residence at Wycliffe Hall, University of Oxford. He spent time as a whitewater and wilderness guide in New Mexico and Idaho and once worked as a Christmas ornament salesman at Harrods in London. An Eagle Scout and lifelong outdoorsman, he has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, run five marathons, and is always looking for a new outdoor challenge.
He lives in New York City with his wife, Sandra, their children, and a Weimaraner named Gershwin.
