Ae Jin Huys is an author and culinary expert specialising in Korean cuisine and food culture. Through her work, she brings Korean food culture closer to a Western audience, inviting readers to look beyond the plate.
In her books *Kimchi – Healthy Cooking with Fermented Vegetables*, *Taste Korea – Korean Recipes with Local Ingredients* and *Korean Soul Food – Korean Stories and Recipes*, she explores the richness and diversity of Korean cuisine. Fermentation, regional and seasonal ingredients, and the harmony between nature and human beings are recurring themes in her work.
Ae Jin also examines what a cuisine reveals about a culture: how knowledge is passed down through generations, how flavours are shaped and how food traditions evolve over time. She makes Korean cuisine accessible to a Western audience while respecting the traditions, nuances and cultural context that make it unique.
Through Mokja, she brings Korean cuisine to life through catering, workshops and pop-up events. She also trains food professionals at Horeca Forma and works as a culinary consultant.
Based in Ghent, Belgium, Ae Jin travels to Korea every year for work, deepening her knowledge and maintaining her professional network.
