Heather Anderson

Heather Anderson is a pharmacist, diabetes advocate, and children's book author whose stories began with one remarkable dog: Zoe.

After being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, Heather welcomed Zoe, a diabetic alert service dog, into her life. Zoe not only helped Heather manage the challenges of diabetes but also led her to a close friendship with the breeder and trainer who brought them together. Through this relationship, Heather had the privilege of witnessing the birth and earliest days of a litter of springer spaniel puppies. This experience deepened her appreciation of the unique bonds between people and dogs and inspired the Happy Days picture book series.

Heather's debut book, Finn Finds Confidence, introduces readers to a lovable puppy who discovers that what makes him different also makes him special. The story reflects her belief that children grow in confidence when they are encouraged to recognize and celebrate their own strengths.

Her second book, Just Juno, draws on her personal experience with type 1 diabetes. Through Juno's story, young readers are gently introduced to diabetes and low blood sugar, while also discovering the extraordinary devotion shared by a diabetic alert dog and her person.

The Happy Days book series explores confidence, patience, empathy, courage, and devotion while helping children better understand themselves and others. Heather hopes that each book will help kids feel seen, supported, and a little more confident in who they are.
