Travis West

Travis West (1980- ) is Professor of Hebrew and Old Testament at Western Theological Seminary (WTS) in Holland, MI. He has studied Hebrew in the US and Israel and helped design an innovative and interactive Hebrew curriculum at WTS, which culminated in publishing his first book, Biblical Hebrew: An Interactive Approach (GlossaHouse, 2016), which incorporates play, embodiment, singing, performance, and interactivity into a whole-bodied approach to teaching biblical Hebrew. His second book, The Art of Biblical Performance (GlossaHouse, 2023), incorporates performance and embodiment into the process of interpreting OT narratives. His third book The Sabbath Way: Making Room in Your Life for Rest, Connection, and Delight (Tyndale, 2025) explores the role of Sabbath as an ancient practice with profound and urgent relevance for our contemporary go-go-go culture. He lives with his wife, Mariah, in Hudsonville, MI.
