Dr. Stenette Davis

I am a Jamaican whose background is roooted in mental health. I am a psychiatrist, I spend most of my day listening to others, I find stories interesting. Over time I developed a desire to tell a few of my own.

I was born in a rural district called kellits. For a few years I live in a shack on a hill. I lived with two brothers and a grandmother (my best friend). A powerful hurricane named Gilbert obliterated this shack. We later moved to the city, minus gradma she moved to the beyond life.

Growing up in a low income, high violence community, you quickly learn, "keep your mouth shut." A quiet mouth makes for an active fantasy life. The reality of my existence was harsh, fantasy was an ample substitute. I have told a million stories in my head.

My first book was called the "Ballad of Baldoon". It came about from wanting a fun story to read to my daughter, a story that I could also enjoy. I was getting bored of other people's stories.

My daughter was not able to understand the stories I was reading, so i had to make sure anything I wrote, I could enjoy too.

My second book "When a Goose gets a Duckling." Is the story of my daughter as i journey with her to navigate the world of neurodivergence. I can't wait to see what sparks the next book.
