Jan Fancy Hull

Jan Fancy Hull, author of the Tim Brown Mystery series, lives in a log chalet beside a quiet lake in rural Nova Scotia, Canada, near the real UNESCO Heritage town of Lunenburg and the fictional town of South River where Tim Brown lives. She has no pets other than hummingbirds and those pesky squirrels.

She has written award-winning poetry, two collections of short stories, a non-fiction book about living in Nova Scotia, and the ongoing series of Tim Brown cozy mystery novels.

In former lives, Jan worked as a freelance radio broadcaster, arts administrator, sailing tours skipper, and employee benefits broker.

In winter, Jan sits by the fire and watches snowflakes falling over the field and frozen lake as she writes. In warm months, she enjoys an occasional round of golf, or paddling on the lake in her kayak, which she claims is a great place to dream up story ideas or edit poetry. She is also a sculptor of stone and clay.

During her multiple careers, she observed many people behaving well and badly. While all her characters are fiction, they are informed by those experiences. In spite of that, or maybe because of it, her stories share her gentle sense of humour.
