Jim Watson is a writer and filmmaker who has lived on Catalina Island since May 1995. His award-winning documentary Wings Across the Channel, which tells the story of the golden age of the seaplanes on Catalina Island, won a Superior Filmmaking award at the 2011 Las Vegas International Film Festival and aired multiple times as the feature presentation of a special pledge drive for KCET-TV in Los Angeles, the nation’s largest independent public television station.
He has appeared on numerous podcasts and network television shows, including Investigations Discovery’s Sins & Secrets. He was also a freelance writer for the Catalina Islander newspaper.
He has travelled extensively around the world by land, sea and air and counts English, Spanish, French and Mandarin Chinese among his spoken languages.
Born in Pasadena, California, he was raised in Chico, California, and is a 1985 graduate of California State University, Chico.
