Todd Pierce

Todd Pierce spent 28 years as Foreign Service Officer, working in Greece, Ghana, Turkey, Albania, Burma, Switzerland, Chad, and Washington, DC. He retired as a member of the Senior Foreign Service.

As a public affairs-coned officer, he served overseas and in the US as a media strategist, spokesperson, social media coordinator, speechwriter, crisis communications specialist, grants officer, and polling analyst. He was the chairman of the Fulbright Commission in Athens, treasurer of the Fulbright Foundation in Ankara, and director of the American Center in Rangoon.

Among his achievements are restarting the Fulbright exchange program in Burma, after it had been dormant for 17 years; initiating the negotiations for an ultimately successful cultural property agreement between the US and Turkey; briefing world media after natural disasters and terrorist attacks; and starting a coding camp for girls in rural Greece that has now trained over 400 students.

He holds a BA from Stanford University in English and an MA from Yale University in the history of art. He speaks fluent French and Greek and limited Turkish, Italian, Irish, Burmese, Spanish, and Albanian.

Born in California, he grew up in Maryland and Connecticut. This is his first book.
